QUESTIONS

1.

Consideration when deciding on whether an Oyster bar is a go?

An Oyster bar is an easy option to add to an event because it can be included in addition to the caterer’s standard cocktail hour.  Oyster bars are also fun and engaging station where guests can talk about Oyster tasting differences and how oysters are grown. It brings a creative and unique aspect to the food component of any event. It can become an engaging component of a cocktail hour because guests can walk up to the bar, grab a few oysters, and chat with the shucker—and other guests—about all things oysters.

2.

Only one type of Oyster or should we offer more than one variety?

Guests are interested in having more of a ‘tasting’ component at their events, we suggest offering two different Oyster varieties. It’s fun to have guests taste and learn about the subtle differences between different types of Oysters. Pacific & Sydney Rock Oysters.

3.

What traditional sauces should sit sidecar?

We always suggest including a little of everything, especially when it comes to the traditional accompaniments of lemons, limes, cocktail sauce, and mignonette. We have a variety of choices which you can choose from on our website.

4.

What is a good amount to order for the bar, so no guest is left wanting?

We would recommend about three Oysters & two Prawns per person, as It works pretty seamlessly for the people who are not interested in eating seafood, and those who will stand at the Oyster bar all night. However you know your guests best. Blini & Caviar service will depend on your guests and their love for Caviar.

5.

Oyster bar location, outside vs inside reception, etc.?

There are no limitations in terms of location, as we stock up on shaved ice, so the product stays cool even on warmer days, and the presentation stays full. An indoor or covered area is always preferred, as direct sunlight will cause the ice to melt quickly.

6.

Do you provide Roving Oyster Shucking service with no bar set up?

We cater for all needs and preferences. Our custom Oyster Shucking belts allow us to rove, shuck and serve Oysters with dressings. However for a full Aesthetic experience we suggest a full Oyster Bar Station, which allows us to also cater Prawns, Caviar, smoked salmon and add A Blini service.
